Tennessee No Tax Weekend 2016 to be held in July for first time ever
For the first time ever, the Tennessee No Tax Weekend 2016 will be held in July. On July 29 through the 31st of 2016, Tennessee will host it’s annual sales tax holiday. “The sales tax holiday for back-to-school items is earlier this year,” Tennessee Govenor Bill Haslam said. “We encourage Tennesseans to mark their calendars so they don’t miss this opportunity to save on important items.”
This will give parents plenty of time to buy their school supplies before the start of the school year, which for some, is the week after. Hopefully more states will adopt the earlier sales tax holiday as Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia.

The dates for the sales tax holiday are set by the Legislature.
Subject to the criteria explained below, all sales of qualifying items made during the holiday period qualify for the exemption, including items sold online, or by telephone or mail. Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday. Texas Tax Free Weekend 2015.
